Legendary animals can be captured, sold, and traded to certain NPCs, or the parts harvested from them can be turned into special items. NOTE: The house is not available for personal events such as weddings, parties, etc. Once approved, your information will be passed on to an event coordinator in Campus Events, who will work with you to handle the remaining details. All reservations must be approved by the Preserve Director. Student organizations are required to have a faculty/staff member accompany them. Reservations must be made at least 15 days before the event, and are taken on a first come, first served basis.
The standard fee applies for groups not affiliated with Calvin University: a half day (4 hours or less) is $150, and a full day (more than 4 to 24 hours) is $250. Christian Reformed churches and related agencies receive a 50% discount on the rental fee. Rental is currently free to Calvin departments and student organizations. Docks provide access to the lake for fishing or relaxing by the water. Near the lake there is a fire pit which can be used. Outdoor facilities: In season the deck provides a pleasant area for meetings, meals or just relaxing. No bedding or linens are provided users must bring their own sheets, pillows and sleeping bags. The main classroom has ample floor space for people in sleeping bags. Sleeping accommodations: The house has two bedrooms with beds for four and five individuals, respectively. No bath towels are provided users must bring their own. Restrooms: There are two full baths on the main floor and a ¾ bath off the basement laboratory. The kitchen is outfitted with an assortment of pots and pans for cooking and serving food, and table service for about 12.
It also has two 10-cup drip coffee makers. Kitchen: The Lake House has a recently remodeled kitchen with stove, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher. In addition, the smaller living room and laboratory areas can fit 10-15 people each and are great for small group activities. Meeting space: The great room with fireplace can fit up to 25 people. It is primarily a Calvin University research facility but is available for rent during the academic year for small educational meetings and overnight retreats of 25 people or less.
The Flat Iron Lake House is located in the Flat Iron Lake Preserve in Greenville.
